SAMI RUIZ, 2014
MATERIAL: Acrylic on Canvas
DIMENSIONS: 77 x 86 cm
In this colorful work we witness a ceremony in the rainforest. When starting a ceremony with the medicinal vine, the curandero (shaman) provides protection (the so-called 'arkana'). Here the Arkana is mainly determined by the Madre Selva, the mother of the rainforest. On her lap, in the life-giving water, the healing ceremony takes place in harmony. Below her we see the medicinal vine. On the one hand, the owl represents the ikaro (the medicine song) and on the other hand, the owl represents wisdom in the cosmovision of the tribes in the rainforest. The sun on her head is the light in the ceremony, the beacon to follow. The geometric patterns are the connection of land, trees and water.
Paintings come with a description of the painting and symbols, and a bio of the painter.
